iPrep Community Committees & Volunteer Opportunities

General Volunteers (Annual) 

We could always use a helping hand! This committee provides flexible support for PTSA and school activities throughout the year. Members help where needed—whether assisting at events, lending a hand in classrooms, or stepping in for special projects—to ensure every initiative runs smoothly. 

Safety and Security Committee (Annual)

Support our efforts to keep our school safe and welcoming. Help with safety awareness, procedures, and events that build culture of care and preparedness. This committee also helps foster a safe environment by fostering and promoting safety in all settings.

Coordinators Needed: Coordinators will collaborate with iPrep administration, Miami-Dade County School Board, City of Miami, and other agencies to plan and implement strategies that improve school safety.

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers will assist with drop-off and dismissal queuing, circulation, etc.

Parents Night Out Committee (Annual)

Help plan fun monthly gatherings where families can relax, connect, and enjoy time together outside the classroom. From movie nights, themed activities, and relaxed nights out for parents, you’ll help create events that bring our community closer. If you’re great at planning parties, this committee is for you! 

Sponsorship Committee (Annual) 

The Sponsorship Committee solicits and coordinates sponsors and community partners for the school that can help expand and support our PTSA efforts. The team will coordinate a silent auction during our Magnet Showcase. 

Coordinators Needed: Coordinators will help with exploring new ideas and areas for sponsorship opportunities and business partnerships, coordinating with sponsors, procuring donations for various events (e.g. International Global Magnet Showcase silent auction) etc. 

After School Care Committee (Annual)

Have resources that could help improve the quality of aftercare? Sign up!

This committee will assist our After School Care Administrator with recruitment of high-quality staff, communication with families, and coordinating the Holiday and End of the Year Celebrations.

Coordinators Needed: Coordinators will help with recruiting personnel, sourcing enrichment classes, enhancing communication, etc.

Volunteers Needed: Have a special talent or hobby? Host a weekly activity for the students. Duration: Depends on activity.

Decorating Crew (Annual)

Calling all creatives! If you have a creative heart, enjoy arts and craft projects, and making friends, this committee is for you! Join this committee and help enhance our events. Help transform the stage for the Holiday Show or decorate the school for Back to School, Hispanic Heritage, Thanksgiving, Black History Month, and Teacher appreciation week. 

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers will assist in creating props, donating materials, decorating, set-up, and break-down for various events. Volunteer for one event or volunteer for all! 

Book Fair Volunteers (Twice a year)

Help bring our Scholastic Book Fair to life! Students, teachers, and parents can come and shop for books, reading resources and more! Volunteers will assist with display set-up, check out, helping students find books they love, re-stock, clean up, and ensuring things run smoothly during this exciting event.

Square Art Volunteers FOR PK, K, and 1st GRADE ONLY (Spring)

Art creation will be scheduled at the art teachers’ discretion) This committee will partner with Square1Art and the school’s administration to run the fundraising program.  They will also assist our Art teacher in the creation of the art This fundraiser focuses on recreating children’s art on keepsakes while raising funds for the PTSA. 

Pre-K, K, and 1st Grade Volunteers Needed: Volunteers will assist Pre-K, K, and 1st grade classes in the creation of the art. 

Superintendents 5K Volunteers (March) 

This committee promotes and supports participation in the annual Superintendent’s 5K. Members help coordinate school involvement, encourage family and student runners, and assist with logistics to showcase school spirit at this district-wide event.

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers will assist the teachers with event set-up and break-down.

Field Day Volunteers (Spring)

Bring the energy to one of the most anticipated days of the year! Assist with organizing games, activities, and friendly competitions that make Field Day unforgettable for our students.

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers will assist the day off with set-up, clean-up,  running booths, games, or other activities.

Black History Month Celebration Committee (Feb)

Work with the school community to create meaningful events, performances, and activities that celebrate and honor Black history, culture, and contributions. 

Coordinators Needed: Coordinators will work with teachers to help to bring in materials, guest speakers, and organize a luncheon for our students, teachers and staff. 

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers will assist with overall decorations and set-up and break-down of events. Volunteers may also serve as guest speakers, host an event or presentation, judge door decorations, etc. 

Spring Picnic Committee  (Spring)

A fun day on Virginia Key in Key Biscayne! With the help of volunteers, the PTSA hosts a fun day by  the beach  where families can come and hang out, relax, enjoy food and fun. Typically, each grade level is assigned certain items to bring to share with the group.  

Coordinators Needed: Coordinators will help plan the many organizational components of the event (securing the venue, vendors, and caterers, renting equipment, coordinating with volunteers, etc.)

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers will assist the day off with set-up, clean-up, or other activities. 

Harvest Festival Committee (Fall)

Harvest Festival is one of the biggest events of the year! Taking place in the iPrep parking lot and courts, it is a time where the iPrep community comes together to celebrate the fall season and get to know each other. Families can choose a variety of different ways to celebrate, hosting their car in Trunk-or-Treat, sponsoring a fun booth (e.g. face painting, tattoos, balloon making), contributing to the bake sale, and many more. 

Coordinators Needed: Coordinators will help plan the many organizational components of the event (securing vendors and caterers, renting equipment, coordinating with volunteers, etc.) 

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers will assist the day off with set-up, clean-up,  running booths, games, or other activities.

Global Expo Committee (March)

This committee supports the school’s annual Global Expo, a showcase of student work and performances that highlight our magnet program’s global focus. Members assist with coordination and logistics to help make the school-wide event a success. Responsibilities for this event will include coordinating and assisting with set up and break down of event space and silent auction, coordinate student volunteers, and assist our magnet lead with specific tasks. This is a school organized event.

Coordinators Needed: Coordinators will help with overall organization (sourcing out items for silent auction, securing food trucks vendors, coordinating with volunteers, etc.)

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers will assist the teachers with event set-up and break-down. 

Teacher Appreciation Week Committee (May) 

Help show our appreciation for teachers and staff with thoughtful surprises, fun activities, and heartfelt gestures that make them feel valued all week long. Volunteers will be needed to assist with special events, activities, and gifts.  

Coordinators Needed: Coordinators will help plan the many organizational components of the week-long event (securing vendors and caterers, coordinating with volunteers, etc.)

Volunteers Needed: If you are crafty and like themed decorations, this is your time to shine! Volunteers will assist with decorating the week prior to the event (see also Decorating Crew). Volunteers will also assist with the set-up and clean-up of various events, covering for teachers, and other activities. Volunteer for a few hours or the whole week!
